Radio El Bahdja is the public regional radio of Algiers, launched in 2008. Its name, "El Bahdja," means "the radiant one," the historic nickname of the city of Algiers. The station is dedicated to the daily life of Algiers residents with programs on local news, culture, heritage, and events in the capital. Radio El Bahdja showcases the Algiers dialect and the traditions of the Casbah. It also features Algerian chaabi music and rai. The station broadcasts on 97.1 FM and is highly appreciated by the capital's residents.
